SANITARY SEWER REHABILITATION, CIP 94-408 INCREASE IN COST OF CONSTRUCTION

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Council:

1. Approve increase of funds in the amount of $831.00 from the Sewer Fund for increase in construction cost provided by W.A. Rasic Construction, on the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project.

BACKGROUND:

On March 11, 1997 the City Council awarded the Sewer Construction Contract to W.A. Rasic Construction in the amount of $554,465.00. On March 25 and July 28, 1997 the City Council awarded changes to the existing contract totaling $170,000.00 which brought the total construction contract to $724,465.00.

ANALYSIS:

Increase in construction cost was due to abandoning additional manholes on the old sewer main.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Contract	$724,465.00
Total Construction Cost	$725,104.00
Construction Cost Short Fall	$ 831.00

The estimated Sewer Fund Balance at 6/30/98 of $61,940 will be reduced by $831.00.
