SUPPORT AB1228 (DUCHENEY) AND COASTAL CITIES DIVISION OF LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES

I have attached a letter from the Mayor of Huntington Beach concerning a bill that would appropriate $3 million per year for beach replenishment and coastal cities organization.

Although replenishment of our beach has not been an issue for us lately, there may come a time when some assistance would be helpful. I believe that it would be a good idea for the City Council to authorize a letter of support for AB1228 and direct staff to track it.

I also believe that a California coastal group would be quite helpful and would also suggest a letter be sent to Huntington Beach expressing our interest.

Recommendation:

1. Approve sending a letter of support for AB1228 (Ducheney) for Mayor's signature.
2. Approve sending a letter of interest for coastal cities group.
